Fractional
Ingredients

Probity Pet Foods' ingredients are listed in the order of predominance of inclusion in each recipe. Nutrient rich proteins are the first ingredient in all Probity pet foods.

Beware of pet foods where the first ingredient listed is animal protein, immediately followed by several fractional grain assortments such as Brown Rice, Brewers Rice, White Rice, etc. Fractional ingredients can lead pet parents to believe that an animal protein has a higher inclusion rate than all other ingredients. However, when you add up all of the fractional ingredients, a grain is actually the predominate ingredient and that animal protein, would actually be fourth or even further on down the list.

Don't Pay More for Water!

Probity Pet Foods' uses animal protein meals, which have very little water included in the weight of the ingredient. Animal protein meals actually have significantly more protein than whole animal proteins such as whole chicken, or what marketing experts call "real" chicken.

Beware of pet foods where the first ingredient listed is whole animal protein, such as meat, whole or real meat. These meats arrive at manufacturing facilities in frozen blocks and slurries which are thawed and included into the manufacturing process. The inclusion of actual protein with these ingredients is low and they include a substantial amount of water. The water inclusion is what allows  these ingredients to be listed as a first ingredient.

Micro-Ingredients

Probity Pet Foods recognizes that there is an abundance of healthy food options that pets can enjoy, and we encourage all pet parents to research healthy options appropriate for their pets, and by all means, treat them to a variety as appropriate. What we don't do is add a long list of fruits, vegetables and other micro-ingredients that are not beneficial to your pet due to the microscopic amounts and the method of manufacturing.

Beware of pet foods that list out a significant number of fruits, veggies and other craft ingredients that are listed after the vitamins and minerals listed on the ingredient listing. Vitamins and minerals are listed after the main ingredients due to the small inclusion of them that are necessary for a complete and balanced diet for your pet.  Listing fruits, veggies and other craft ingredients after these, is a clear indicator that the amount added is microscopic and included more for marketing purposes than nutritional benefits.
